Make your own Earth-Moon system model: 

  It can be difficult for kids to truly understand the Earth-Moon system using just textbooks and websites. In these sources the relative size of the Earth and Moon are often shown incorrectly and the scale of the distance between them is usually wildly off.

Create a big compass rose to measure the Moon's motion

  Everyone knows that the Moon orbits around the Earth, but can we see the Moon move? Can we measure it? 

  Measuring the Moon’s motion through the sky is easier than you think. All you need is room for about a 10-foot circle in your backyard, something you can use as markers to stick in the grass and a 5-ft length of string.
